Meet your obstetric team
Dr Anna Holmes
Obstetrician
MBBS FRANZCOG FRCOG, RCOG/RCR Diploma in Ultrasound
I did all my training in the UK, qualifying as a doctor in 1990 and started specialising in obstetrics after my basic first year jobs. I worked initially in London and obtained my MRCOG in 1996 and then moved to the south coast of England working in Southampton, a major teaching hospital, and the Channel Islands. I returned to London to do research looking at cervical lengths which has now become part of mainstream obstetric care, although I was one of many looking at the same topic. Whilst doing research I did my training in ultrasound working at the fetal medicine unit at University College Hospital London.
I completed my training in 2002 and then worked as a consultant for 6 months in the Isle of Wight which incidentally is where I was born, before coming to Australia. For the first three year’s I worked in Armadale doing a mixture of public and private and then moved to SJOG Murdoch Hospital at the beginning of 2007 and I have worked here since.
Dr Rhys Bellinge
Obstetrician - Joining the team in 2024
BSc(Hons) MBBS MReproMed(candidate) MPharmSc FRANZCOG
Meet Dr Bellinge: A local expert in fertility, pregnancy, and delivery care. Raised near Perth, he brings a wealth of international experience, having worked on Harley Street in London where he was at the forefront of genetics and embryology, specialising in newly-developing IVF treatments for severe infertility, and was among the first in the world to freeze human eggs for fertility preservation in 2008. Dr Bellinge was also the first in Western Australia to perform embryo biopsy for genetic analysis in 2005, leading to WA's first pregnancy with genetically tested embryos.
He has also spent time in Melbourne researching new methods of in-vitro human cell culture, and stem cell therapies. Having spent a lifetime in and around IVF, and after completing his specialty training in obstetrics and gynaecology at King Edward Memorial Hospital, he has moved his focus to not just the beginning, but the whole 12-month journey; from hopeful couples, to safely delivered and happy, healthy new families.
In obstetrics, Dr Bellinge addresses all aspects, from uncomplicated pregnancies to those with medical issues or pregnancy complications. While he practises privately at SJOG Murdoch, he is also dedicated to public service, providing high-risk and emergency obstetric care at King Edward Memorial, along with emergency gynaecological surgery.
As a family man with two young children, Dr Bellinge understands the importance of family values. He is committed to delivering your precious future family safely, using evidence-based practises with care and skill, and with your best interests at heart. Dr Bellinge looks forward to empowering you on your journey through conception, to delivery.
